Rapid Re-Housing
What is Rapid Re-Housing?
Rapid re-housing offers services and short-term rental help. Helping people find homes quickly, becoming more self-sufficient, and staying in housing are the objectives. It is provided without requirements (including work, income, the absence of a criminal record, or sobriety), and the tools and services are frequently adapted to the individual's requirements.
How Rapid Re-Housing Can End Homelessness
One of the main strategies for preventing homelessness is rapid rehousing. It has been shown to be successful in placing and retaining those experiencing homelessness in long-term housing. People are better able to deal with other concerns that may have contributed to their homelessness by being connected with a house, such as finding job or dealing with substance addiction problems. People who are typically seen as being more difficult to serve, such as those with low or no income and survivors of domestic abuse, have also found the intervention to be helpful.
According to research, those who receive quick rehousing support experience homelessness less frequently than those who only receive shelter or interim housing assistance. In comparison to other homeless solutions, such as shelter, rapid rehousing is also less expensive.
